Building Gospel Community in Boston

church Planting with Christ the King Presbyterian

About Us

Ally and I (Josh) are excited to share that we will be moving to Boston, where I will serve as a church planting apprentice and assistant pastor with Christ the King Presbyterian Church. In our seven years of marriage, we have both served as Young Life leaders, both taught history at an urban high school, and both completed degrees at Covenant Theological Seminary. We have also spent the past three summers in Boston, where I served as a church planting intern with Christ the King.

Through our years together in ministry, the Lord has given us both a passion for building relationships with non-Christians, engaging winsomely with culture, and establishing gospel community in and through the local church. We eagerly look forward to putting these things into practice in Boston. We will serve in ministry for the next three years or so with Christ the King Somerville, a church plant in densely populated Somerville, just north of downtown Boston. As we live and serve in Somerville, we will further prepare and train to launch a new congregation in the Boston area in a few years time.

Christ the King

Christ the King Presbyterian Church (PCA) began in Cambridge, MA in the 1990s. In an effort to more effectively reach Boston with the gospel, Christ the King began planting new congregations around the urban core of Boston. Christ the King has now planted nine diverse congregations around the metro area and intends to continue strategically planting new congregations.

During my church planting apprenticeship with the Christ the King Somerville, I will become ordained, preach regularly, focus on outreach and evangelism, lead an urban mercy ministry, and receive weekly mentoring in church planting. Starting churches in highly secular New England is a difficult task. Ally and I are thankful to be doing this work in the gospel-centered community of Christ the King.

PARTNER WITH US

Reaching Boston with the gospel is no doubt a missional endeavor, and we are again struck with the reminder that we are utterly dependent on God’s grace and the support of Christian community. In order to serve with Christ the King, we are seeking to raise about $85k dollars a year for the next three years.

We are currently praying for Jesus to raise up a team of around 75 prayer and financial supporters to help us reach this goal. Monthly broken down, that is 4 supporters at $400, 8 at $250, 8 at $150, 30 at $50, and 25 at $25. Would you consider praying about how you might partner with us, as we strive to build gospel community in Boston through church planting?

We"d love to stay in touch with you! We send monthly ministry and prayer email updates. If you are interested in praying for us and hearing about what we are up to on a monthly basis, join below.
